We’re seeking a Data Operations Engineer to join our team in developing secure, high-performing data infrastructure that supports seamless data migration, governance, and insight-driven strategies for our clients.
About the role
As a Data Operations Engineer, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining the core data infrastructure that powers Terentia’s cloud-native platform.
You’ll lead data migration efforts, design scalable pipelines, and ensure the integrity, privacy, and governance of our clients’ cultural heritage data. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll model, audit, and surface data through BI tools that drive strategic decision-making.
This is a highly collaborative opportunity for someone who thrives working hands-on with data architecture, quality assurance, and customer-facing solutions.
Job responsibilities
Data infrastructure and engineering
Design, build, and maintain robust data infrastructure and pipelines ensuring optimal availability, scalability, and performance
Lead data migration projects by developing custom ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from diverse external sources into our platform
Implement monitoring systems and perform regular maintenance, updates, and upgrades to ensure system reliability
Data architecture and governance
Design and oversee data architecture implementation by developing comprehensive strategies, policies, and standards to maintain data integrity and consistency
Implement governance policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with data privacy laws, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
Explore and analyze existing data sources to understand structure, content, and semantics
Data quality and analytics
Design data models that aggregate diverse sources and enhance accessibility for end users
Conduct thorough audits and evaluations of datasets to identify and resolve quality issues through systematic checks and error pattern analysis
Develop business intelligence solutions and integrate data from various sources to support data-driven decision-making
Collaborate with data stewards to maintain high data quality standards
Collaboration and client success
Partner closely with Product Specialists and Terentia clients to understand and support their unique data needs
Translate complex technical concepts into accessible insights for cultural heritage professionals
Contribute to cross-functional initiatives that enhance our platform's value proposition
Must-haves
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Proven experience in data operations, data engineering, or a similar technical role
Strong expertise in database management systems, data warehousing, and ETL processes
Proficiency in programming languages (Python, SQL, TypeScript)
Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar)
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Nice-to-haves
Experience with Microsoft Azure
